Tim Tynan is the CEO of Bank of America Merchant Services. He assumed this role in May 2014. As CEO, he is responsible for all business aspects of the organization. Bank of America Merchant Services is the largest payments processor, measured by card transaction volume, in the United States. The business is a joint venture owned by First Data Corporation and Bank of America.
Previously, Tim was Managing Director and the Regional Head of the Transaction Services Division for Citigroup in Japan. He spent two years in Tokyo responsible for Citi's Treasury and Trade Solutions and Securities and Fund Services businesses. He was also an Executive Officer and a member of the Management Committee of Citibank Japan Ltd.
Before moving to Japan in 2012, Tim was the Chief Operating Officer of Citi's Transaction Services (CTS) business globally. CTS provides cash management, trade finance services, and securities custody and fund services in over 100 countries. As COO, he was responsible for driving operational effectiveness across all functional areas including Operations, Technology, Risk and Control, Compliance, HR, and Finance.
Prior to joining CTS in 2008, Tim was the Global Head of Citi Business Services (CBS), a shared services group providing Payment Services, Procurement, General Services, Employee HR Services, AML Operations, and Financial Reporting Operations across Citigroup worldwide. Tim joined Citigroup in 2001 as the COO for CBS later becoming the Global Head in 2003.
Tim started his career with the IBM Corporation in 1981 where he eventually became an executive and had a 20 year career with various roles in sales and marketing, sales operations, customer service, product market development, and client relationship management.
Tim has served on various non-profit boards including the New York City Board of Junior Achievement. He served as the Chairman of the Borough of Manhattan Community College Board of Trustees from 2003-2005, and is a current board member. He has been involved with the Bridges-to-Community, the NGO promoting cross cultural development in Nicaragua, and served as a member of PENCIL, the New York City public/private partnership as an advisor to a middle school on the lower east side of Manhattan.
Tim currently resides in New York City.
David Ades serves as Executive Vice President, General Manager and Head of Sales for North America for Bank of America Merchant Services. In his current role, David oversees all aspects of large corporate client sales, service and retention across the enterprise, including a number of key operational and strategic initiatives in both the United States and Canada. David is a member of the Bank of America Merchant Services Executive Committee, Operations Committee and Strategic Council.
Prior to his current role, David served as Country Manager for Canada for Bank of America Merchant Services, playing a key role in organizing and launching the Canadian operations.
Most recently, David held the position of Chief Revenue Officer for Plastiq, a Boston-based online payment solution provider where he managed all aspects of sales, pricing, marketing, strategy, client outreach and general distribution. Prior to this, David served as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Moneris Solutions Corp., a joint investment between RBC Financial Group and BMO Financial Group - the fifth largest process in North America. An original member of the Canadian Executive team, David played a key role in the strategic formation, growth and direction of the company for over 10 years.
A 20-year veteran of the payments industry, David has extensive experience in financial services and high-tech industries in both the United States and Canada.
As a bilingual native of Montreal, David earned his B.A. Degree from Concordia University.
Jill is the General Manager and Head of Small Business Sales for Bank of America Merchant Services. In this role, she is responsible for managing Small Business from an end- to-end perspective, leading sales and the oversight, development and delivery of critical business priorities.
Jill joined the Bank of America in 1992, and has been in the financial services industry for 24 years. Prior to her current role, Jill was the head of Bank of America Small Business sales, responsible for delivering banking, credit and cash management solutions, to small business clients, through a national team of small business bankers.
Prior to that, Jill was responsible for leading Employee Banking & Investments and Affinity Banking, as well as serving as the head of Strategic Planning for Preferred & Small Business Banking. Previously, she held the role of chief operating officer for Corporate Banking and held positions within Energy & Power and Environmental Services.
Jill has served as the co-executive sponsor for the LEAD for Women Virtual Chapter and the executive sponsor for the Consumer Leadership Program, two programs dedicated to promoting and accelerating professional development opportunities through education, mentoring and coaching. She participates in several mentoring programs and volunteer initiatives and frequently speaks on the topic of professional development. Jill currently serves on the Advisory Board of the National Association of Women Business Owners and serves as the Co-Chair of Bank of America’s Domestic Violence Task Force.
Jill graduated from Tufts University with a Masters in Economics and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Clark University. She resides near Boston with her husband and two children.
JoAnn P. Carlton serves as the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Bank of America Merchant Services. She is responsible for managing legal risks and the contracts with customers, vendors and other third parties for the corporation.
JoAnn was previously an Associate General Counsel with Bank of America and the Managing Counsel for the legal team that supported the bank’s merchant services business prior to the formation of the new company. JoAnn also served as the Managing Attorney for Bank of America’s small business lending and deposits, consumer and small business credit cards, consumer deposit products, eCommerce and ATMs and prepaid card products.
JoAnn has more than 20 years of experience providing legal service in the payments and financial services industry. Prior to working for Bank of America, JoAnn was Senior Vice President and Counsel at Bank One/First USA, supporting its consumer and small business credit card business, including complex negotiations with affinity and co-brand partners, marketing, and systems and operational issues. JoAnn also served as Senior Counsel to National City Card Services in Columbus, Ohio, providing legal support to its bankcard and private label credit card business.
JoAnn received her juris doctorate degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa.
Nicolas Chater serves as chief financial and administrative officer for Bank of America Merchant Services. In this role, Chater is responsible for the company’s accounting, treasury, tax and financial planning operations. He also oversees the project management office, client support organization and supply chain management
Chater joined Bank of America Merchant Services in 2014, following five years as senior vice president of vendor management with JP Morgan Chase. He previously served as CEO of Worcester Consulting LLC, a financial and strategic consulting group, and CFO of Tri S Security, a provider of security services for government entities. Prior to these roles, Chater was CFO of HomeBanc Mortgage.
A resident of New York City, Chater is a qualified chartered accountant and holds a Master of Arts from Oxford University.
Michael Reed serves as Executive Vice President, Managing Director of Europe.
Michael Reed serves as a Bank of America Merchant Services Executive Vice President and Managing Director of operations in Europe, where the company does business as BofA Merrill Lynch Merchant Services (Europe), LLC. Reed is charged with growing the company’s European client portfolio and delivering innovative payments solutions to large clients.
Reed has held several senior leadership roles within Bank of America Merchant Services, having previously served as Executive Vice President for the company’s Corporate Client Segment and before that as Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to that, Reed spent 11 years in various leadership roles at First Data, which today co-owns Bank of America Merchant Services. He managed product delivery, service quality and financial performance for First Data’s Equity Alliances businesses. During this time, Reed created the first operational model between First Data and Bank of America Merchant Services. For several years, he oversaw all aspects of First Data’s relationship with Walmart and served as the principal liaison with the client executive team.
Reed was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1995 and received the Air Force Achievement Medal for meritorious service. Today Reed serves as the executive sponsor of Bank of America Merchant Services’ Military Affinity Group, an internal talent development network for military veterans, current Guardsmen and Reservists and military spouses.
Michael Roberts serves as Chief Marketing and Digital Strategy Officer at Bank of America Merchant Services, overseeing all aspects of proactive marketing, internal and external communications, and digital channels and capabilities. As part of this role, Michael also leads the organization’s product and industry solutions delivery. He joined the company in 2015.
Prior to his current post, Michael spent a number of years in financial services at both TIAA-CREF and Citigroup and in professional services at Alix Partners, Capgemini, and Ernst & Young. At TIAA-CREF, Michael’s leadership positions included managing TIAA-CREF’s highly rated business-to-business and business-to-consumer digital presence, building and leading the company’s market and competitive strategy capability, and re-engineering the marketing operations and the creative services/internal agency functions.
At Citigroup, Alix Partners, Capgemini, and Ernst & Young, Michael’s work focused on strategy, technology, and operations. At Citigroup, Michael oversaw the strategy for technology and then the strategy for both operations and technology globally. At Alix Partners, he was responsible for strategy and operations for the firm, and at Ernst & Young and then Capgemini he worked closely with the senior leadership team in the Americas on strategy and operational improvement.
Michael graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and resides in New York City with his wife Alisha Davis.
In her role as Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, Marian Wilson oversees all aspects of Human Resources, Learning and Leadership Development. Her responsibilities include talent development, acquisition and retention, ensuring a robust performance management process, and leading programs that foster associate engagement.
Prior to this position, Marian joined Bank of America in 1984 and held various leadership positions, including Human Resources Executive (functioning as a strategic advisor supporting key business leaders), Leadership Development Executive, Executive and Management Development Training Manager and also served as the Human Resources Change Integration Manager for the Bank of America and NationsBank merger.
Marian's other experience includes serving as Training Manager for Metric Constructors and Psychometrist for the Eckerd Foundation, a therapeutic wilderness program for emotionally handicapped children. She has also served on various non-profit boards within education and social services.
Marian graduated from Lander University with a B.S. degree in Psychology.
